Sam Light TANGLED LINES LEGENDS • This year marks the 20th anniversary of Sam Light’s kiting journey, so it seemed a good time to put him to the Tangled Lines interrogation. Growing up sailing on the south coast of the UK, Sam then got into wakeboarding and kiteboarding, becoming a master of stylish slider hits and dominating the podium at park events. VALENCIA & TARIFA • Kiko Roig Torres is a talented strapless freestyle rider and recently came third in the Surfboard category of the GKA Big Air Kite World Championships in Tarifa. Although he currently lives in Tarifa, he’s originally from Oliva, a small town near Valencia on the east coast of Spain. We found out how both spots helped shaped his riding style.

COLIN COLIN CARROLL’S LOVE LETTERS TO KITEBOARDING • What’s love got to do with it?

Double or Nothing • Eleveight riders, Arthur Guillebert, Jojo Heurto, Kaimar Halliste, Kerli Halliste and Thibault Mounier spent a crazy few weeks going large in the south of France. Thibault put together a little video and told us all about the good times. There was even a sauna trailer involved, which sounds totally incredible after a full session of kiting and pushing the limits.

Dans l’instant • After Val Garat was off the water for a while due to injury and subsequent surgery, he found himself questioning why he loves kiting and water sports so much. That led to a trip to Greece where he made the video Dans l’instant, which he hopes will evoke the same emotions in you that he feels when he’s in the water.

MISSION UNKNOWN • Roderick Pijls agreed to accept a mission not knowing anything about it other than where and when he had to be with his kite gear. Without giving too much away, there was an open ocean kite crossing involved, a trek up an active – and smelly – volcano, and some philosophical pondering… It was mission successful, and getting back home brought Roderick more joy too.

SEA FANTASY • Anthony Green, a keen kiter and paraglider, is the Graphic Designer for Airwave. With Covid and improved satellite internet making working remotely easier, he set off on his catamaran with his family, to sail round the world and kite at spots inaccessible to those without a boat. WERTHER CASTELLETTI • Werther has been working on kite design for RRD from the very beginning of the sport. When it came to creating the latest version of the Obsession, he put his years of experience to good use and also got Sean Overbeek, a pro rider who joined the team last year, to input into the design. We talked to them about the creative process of developing this Big Air beast.
