F1 EMILIA ROMAGNA PRIX PREVIEW

Ferrari’s changing challenges • New parts and key personnel movement mean the legendary team will be under a lot of scrutiny as it heads to a home event this weekend

YOUR SAY • The speed and sound of the cars was awesome, especially when driven by ‘On-The-Gas’ Ongais, and it was a real treat to be able to see the Indycars on British soil

His best just got better • Lando Norris was focused on self-improvement heading into 2024. He knew, after all, that McLaren was capable of delivering a winning car. That all paid off with his maiden grand prix win in Miami

Norris’s F1 win near-misses • Had things gone just slightly differently, Lando Norris wouldn’t have got anywhere near Nick Heidfeld’s record of most Formula 1 podiums without winning. Interestingly they all come from 2021, and since then even Norris himself picks the 2023 Qatar Grand Prix sprint as the “one opportunity” that got away.

McLaren MCL38 upgrades • A raft of improvements boosted the 2024 McLaren for the Miami Grand Prix. Here’s what helped turn the car into a Formula 1 winner

And the next British F1 winners are… • …or perhaps we should say, ‘could be’! There’s lots of British talent following George Russell and Lando Norris, and here are the ones currently making the biggest waves

Porsche privateers prove their worth • The customer Jota squad’s duo of Will Stevens and Callum Ilott had the edge over the frontrunning factory car when it mattered to take victory at Spa

DIFFERING FORTUNES FOR FRENCH SQUADS

Unpredictable 1-2 for Manthey Porsche • A practice crash, race stoppage and last-lap drama failed to stop Porsche from duplicating its Hypercar result in the hard-fought GT contest

Another Ogier record amid Portuguese drama • The Toyota part-timer took his sixth Rally Portugal victory, but it was perhaps Hyundai rival Thierry Neuville who made the biggest step forward

SOLANS TOPS STRONG WRC2 CONTEST

Cassidy goes electric after softly-softly start • The Jaguar ace put in a remarkable performance in Berlin to place himself on pole position in this year’s Formula E title race

Turkington stakes his claim for BMW five-series • Can Ash Sutton make it a quintet of BTCC crowns? On the evidence of Brands Hatch, the supreme Colin Turkington might get there first
